Alejandro Lopez, originally from Asturias, Spain, emigrated to Panama in 1886 and later to the Dominican Republic in 1910. He established a cigar factory near Santiago de los Caballeros in the 1920s, which he operated until his death in 1948. Today, cigars bearing his name are crafted as fine Dominican long-fillers, maintaining a tradition of quality.
